CEDAR was founded on April 1st, 2015. However, the unit already has a lot of experience and knowledge concerning everything from databases to research.
This is simply due to the fact that CEDAR consists of several already established functions at Umeå University. For example:
- The Demographic Data Base (DDB)
- The former Centre for Population Studies (CPS)
- The research programme Ageing and Living Conditions (ALC)
- The Graduate School in Population Dynamics and Public Policy
Part of the Faculty of Social Sciences
As a unit, CEDAR belongs to the Faculty of Social Sciences and it is lead by a director, Elisabeth Engberg. Deputy director Gunnar Malmberg is in charge of the subdivision CEDAR Research, whilst the other subsection, DDB, has Maria Larsson as deputy director. At CEDAR there is also an administrative manager, Bo Persson.
