DORUM is not really a database, but a record of databases. Its aim is to increase the quality of Umeå University's management of research databases, and to create better opportunities for collaborations between researchers from various departments.
So how do we hope to achieve this? Well, by filling this record that DDB has developed with information about all the research databases within Umeå University, including everything from content to administrator and research topics.
DORUM has been developed on account of the needs of researchers and their interest in obtaining access to information on other researchers' work. Being able to easily find and share information about registers and databases is very valuable – not least in order to avoid having to reinvent the wheel.
Umeå University has a database on University research projects, the Research Database, into which DORUM will be integrated.
